Emma Versluys is a Belgian-born dancer, choreographer, and multidisciplinary artist based in The Netherlands. After graduating from the Dance Academy at Fontys Hogeschool voor de Kunsten, she has developed a practice that centers on exploring human experiences through movement and collaborative art-making. Emma’s work often raises questions about how we relate to our bodies, ourselves, and the world around us, using art as a way to delve into these connections.

Emma works across different forms of art, including dance, visual arts, installations, and theater. Through her creative process, she is particularly interested in the relationship between the body, the individual, and the collective.

In 2021, Emma co-founded Peeled Collective, an artistic duo focused on revealing the layers of human experience through interdisciplinary productions. Combining elements of dance, visual arts, circus and other mediums, the collective aims to foster deeper engagement with everyday life by creating immersive and reflective works. Within Peeled Collective, Emma acts as both a performer and creator, constantly seeking to open up new dialogues between art and audience, encouraging a richer understanding of the world around us.

Throughout her career, Emma has worked with various artists and choreographers, including The National Chain Practices by Alexandra Waierstall, It Takes a Child to Raise a Village and Bollas with Corpo Maquina, Transcending Bodies by Hannah Zwaans, and Whizz Whoosh by Andreas Hannes. Each of these projects has offered Emma new perspectives on movement, collaboration, and how to approach art.

In addition to performing, Emma has been invited to participate in artist residencies at places like Productiehuis Nowhere, DansBrabant, Korzo, Theater aan de Rijn, and MAD Festival in Antwerp. These opportunities have allowed her to continue developing her ideas and working with other artists who share her curiosity for exploring new ways to connect through art.

Emma’s work is grounded in a genuine curiosity about people, movement, and the stories we all carry within us. Whether performing, creating, or collaborating, she seeks to create spaces for reflection and connection, always open to learning and growing through her art.
